Don't miss
Ellen describes how a meaningful psychedelic experience changed the way she understood her scars and imagined her future.
The brief
At five, Ellen was mauled by two neglected wolf hybrids in Winston-Salem, suffering severe leg injuries that required emergency surgery and years of rehabilitation.
The attack left more than scars: night terrors, panic attacks, and PTSD followed her into adulthood, while a gentle Whippet helped her learn to trust dogs again.
EMDR reduced her panic symptoms, and a later psychedelic experience gave her a personally meaningful way to understand her scars and imagine a life shaped by, not only despite, trauma.
Art became another route through recovery, allowing Ellen to express transformation visually before she felt ready to describe the attack aloud.
Twenty-five years later, sharing the story publicly brings relief and pride, even as the conversation returns to the unpredictable risks of wolf hybrids and irresponsible ownership.
