Don't miss
Chris Deluzio and Nancy LaCour connect Pentagon purges and congressional inaction to military readiness, morale, and the ability to compete with China.
The brief
Jen Psaki frames Trump as a liability for vulnerable Republicans, whose reluctance to attend his convention undercuts his effort to make himself central to the midterms.
Troy Jackson challenges Susan Collins in Maine, arguing that her alignment with Trump matters on health care, tariffs, immigration enforcement, and other issues voters face.
Chris Deluzio and Nancy LaCour describe experienced military officials being purged and loyalists installed, while congressional inaction leaves questions about readiness, morale, and war management.
The discussion links rising costs, health care, housing, military readiness, and war to the concerns Deluzio and LaCour hear from voters during the congressional recess.
Robert Garcia turns to voting access, including a Tarrant County polling-place proposal and a USPS voter-verification system facing legal and implementation concerns.
Taken together, the episode presents competitive elections as a test of both Republican distance from Trump and Congress’s willingness to check executive power.
