Philadelphia, commonly called Philly, is the most populous city in Pennsylvania and the sixth-most populous city in the United States. Located in the Mid-Atlantic region along the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers, it was founded in 1682 by William Penn and played a central role in the American Revolution and the early history of the United States.
