76ers & Knicks BIG Expectations On Opening Night + Major Questions In Boston - Atlantic Division Preview
The division’s strongest teams enter the season with major variables around star availability, roster fit and whether continuity can outweigh uncertainty.
- 1Boston must replace Jalen Brown’s production while preserving a three-point-heavy identity and finding enough secondary star power.
- 2New York’s title hopes hinge on Mitchell Robinson’s health, Jalen Brunson’s wrist and Karl-Anthony Towns’s offensive involvement.
- 3Philadelphia’s ceiling remains difficult to gauge, while Toronto’s defensive versatility gives it a credible path to contention.

The hosts react to breaking news that Ben Simmons tore his Achilles again and consider what recovery may mean for his career.
The brief
Brian Windhorst, Alan Hahn and Tim MacMahon preview an Atlantic Division shaped by continuity, roster change and health questions, with opening night offering an immediate test.
Boston moves on from Jalen Brown and leans on Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, Paul George and depth, but the hosts question whether that formula has enough secondary star power.
New York brings back continuity, yet Mitchell Robinson’s health and Jalen Brunson’s surgically repaired wrist could determine whether its title defense starts on schedule.
Philadelphia’s ceiling depends on Joel Embiid fitting alongside several high-level players and staying durable, while Toronto’s defensive versatility offers a contrasting source of optimism.
The late discussion turns somber when Ben Simmons suffers another Achilles injury, prompting a candid assessment of the difficult road back from repeated setbacks.
Brooklyn remains a young rebuild, and the division’s broader uncertainty leaves no clean favorite beyond the obvious pressure on its established contenders.
