Cleveland’s biggest questions span Watson, the Guardians and Cavs
Why the message might not have mattered for Deshaun Watson; How much better are the Cavs?
The episode tests whether Cleveland’s teams have enough young talent, stability and strategic clarity to turn promising pieces into meaningful progress.
- 1Deshaun Watson’s weak performance and public baggage leave the Browns’ quarterback decision vulnerable despite organizational support.
- 2José Ramírez’s resurgence and Tanner Bibee’s underlying value strengthen the Guardians’ case, but bullpen depth remains a concern.
- 3The Cavaliers may have added defensive potential with Peyton Watson while sacrificing shooting, perimeter defense and ball handling.

Terry recommends The Gales of November, connecting the Edmund Fitzgerald disaster and Great Lakes shipping to Gordon Lightfoot’s song.
The brief
David and Terry open with Deshaun Watson’s return as the Browns’ starter, asking whether Todd Monken’s influence and a young roster can offset an unsettled quarterback situation.
The Watson debate turns on more than performance: weak play, legal baggage, a strained relationship with Browns fans and an outsized contract have made public relations insufficient.
The Guardians’ September outlook improves with José Ramírez’s resurgence and Tanner Bibee’s strong pitching despite poor run support, but middle relief and the remaining schedule loom large.
Cleveland’s farm system is producing options, though the jump to the majors remains difficult; the discussion weighs prospects, player control and possible contract decisions.
The Cavaliers’ Peyton Watson move addresses athletic wing defense, but departures and James Harden’s contract leave questions about shooting, ball handling and lineup balance.
The episode’s standout detour is Terry’s recommendation of The Gales of November, linking the Edmund Fitzgerald disaster, Great Lakes reporting and Gordon Lightfoot’s song.
