The most striking crime report involves Jathan Gilder swallowing stolen Tiffany diamond earrings while trying to escape arrest.
The brief
Megyn Kelly opens with three major developments: new criminal charges against former FBI Director Jim Comey, Lula da Silva’s Brazilian election victory, and a shooting near Florida A&M.
The Comey case turns on the statute of limitations, the Justice Department’s use of a criminal information rather than an indictment, and Comey’s effort to dismiss or unseal the charges.
Brazil’s election produced a surprise fourth-term victory for Lula da Silva, while Jair Bolsonaro objected to extended polling hours and chose a lawsuit over directly contesting the result.
Near Florida A&M, police say a physical altercation preceded a shooting that injured twelve people, including an 11-year-old; investigators are using tips and videos to identify the teenage suspect.
The update closes with the conviction of Jathan Gilder, who stole diamond earrings from Tiffany and swallowed them while trying to evade arrest.
