The brief
Kirk Goldsberry joins Max Kellerman to connect small-market baseball, analytics, and underdog appeal before turning to the Knicks’ loss and their championship identity.
New York’s past titles frame a debate about Jalen Brunson’s greatness, Mitchell Robinson’s importance, team health, and the cultural force of ending a long drought.
Philadelphia’s enormous talent suggests superteam potential, but LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and the Sixers still face questions about defensive cohesion and durability.
Oklahoma City and San Antonio represent different contender blueprints, while Victor Wembanyama’s defense and developing post offense signal the Spurs’ unusual ceiling.
The central standard is two-way commitment: Luka Dončić’s defensive disengagement and Boston’s passive offense become tests of whether stars can carry championship basketball.
The closing survey reaches Denver, Milwaukee, Minnesota, and San Antonio, presenting an NBA season where depth, identity, and multiple playoff series will decide everything.
