   Hawaii’s introduced mongooses failed to control rats and harmed ground-nesting birds.

   “The problem is mongoose are diurnal and the rats are nocturnal. So the mongoose never saw the rats and the rats never saw the mongoose. So the mongoose started eating up all the ground nesting birds.”
