Mokha, also spelled Mocha, is a port city on Yemen’s Red Sea coast. Historically Yemen’s principal port for Sana’a before Aden and Al Hudaydah eclipsed it in the 19th century, Mokha became renowned for its coffee trade and gave its name to Mocha coffee; its location on the southern Red Sea places it near the Bab el-Mandeb maritime chokepoint.
